Rumors and myths about the 707

I have been talking to a lot of friends (mostly male) who say the north bay is lacking in females, safe bi's and kinky people in general. Two have even gone as far as saying it is the blandest (and sickest) place they have lived. I do not live up there but visit sometimes and wonder if this has been the experience of others.

I would hate to be a single, kinky woman who relocates up there in a couple of years, be looking for a date and find this out to be true.

"Northwest Leather Celebration"

On the weekend of May 16-18 smOdyssey, Inc. (a 501c7 not-for-profit org) will be producing a brand new event called "Northwest Leather Celebration" (NWLC). The primary venue for NWLC is a full-service luxury hotel in the San Jose area. Everyone is welcome at NWLC! We are hoping that this event will grow to provide a favorite annual gathering place for all the leather tribes.

This event will also be the new home of the annual Northwest Master/slave contest. This contest is open to all orientations and genders. If you have been in a Master/slave relationship for more than a year, you are very much encouraged to consider serving in this capacity. The Northwest Leather Celebration event will feature a lot of nightlife! Friday evening's "Meet & Greet" will be sponsored by Santa Clara County Leather Association (SCCLA) at Renegades Leather Bar in San Jose, CA (approx. 5 miles from the host hotel). There will be play parties on both Friday and Saturday night at our local community dungeon, Edges (also approx 5 miles from the host hotel). In addition, the popular SouthBay women's bar, Club Savoy is less than one mile from the hotel hotel.

Totally Off Topic, But...

I was in Forgotten Felines Thrift Shop today, they have two special needs cats for adoption. Apparently, their mother had a virus when she was pregnant, and the two cats have palsy. The little brown one, Sailor, is just a love, and has those Lynx like ears. The two need to be adopted together. I would have taken them, but I already have three. And one of mine is a major bitch kitty. It wouldn't be a nice place for two new ones (even if the landlord wouldn't go ballistic.) Except for the shaking, they are healthy as can be. No other problems with them at all according to the people in the shop.

Also, they asked me to send good energy to Lily. She is deaf and got adopted this morning. This is her third adoption. She meows very loudly, and her previous adoptors never gave her a chance to get acclimated, they just brought her immediately back. (One drove to San Mateo with her, turned around and drove back. Never even got her inside the house.) Lily was a pretty little thing, and she needs a forever home. So send a prayer her way if you're so inclined.

I don't usually get involved like this, but I just fell in love with Sailor. Pretty orangy brown hair, big brown eyes. And sweet natured. Very friendly.
So if you know anyone, please spread the word. This pretty much broke my heart.

A casual holiday party will keep the doors open for everyone! Please bring a little something special to share with the group by way of snacks or beverages. This month's topic is: Reflections on 12 Steps to Freedom, taken from slave rick's class at SWLC: When the going get tough, the tough stay.

The BDSM/poly discussion group will hold its next meeting this coming Monday, 01/14. (We meet on the second Monday of each month.) As usual, it will be at SF Citadel. Doors open at seven and discussion begins at 7:30. Requested donation is $5.00 to $15.00 per person. Newcomers welcome.

This month, law school professor Jay Wiseman (Hey, that's me!) will be holding forth on "legal paperwork for alternative relationships." Come learn what's up regarding wills, advance health care directives, powers of attorney, and suchlike. People in alternative relationships frequently find themselves totally cut off from their loved one by the "real" family when a hospitalization or other serious matter occurs. Don't let this tragedy happen to you. Blank forms will be distributed.

dungeon monitor training class on Tuesday, December 18th.

In this class we will discuss the physics and fine tuning of use of single tail in BDSM play and we will also look at a much bigger picture of bullwhips and other forms of single tails. We will learn about, Physics, History, performance, safety, and motivating mammals both large and small. I encourage you to bring your own single tail. I will provide examples for both demonstrations and practice. This class will include, lecture, instruction, Questions and answers, and practice. We will practice targeting, wrapping, and tricks, as well as discussion and practice of the specific use of whips as part of our kinky arsenal.

Mark is a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in the state of California. He has been active in the BDSM Lifestyle for 10 years and has been counseling alternative lifstylers since becoming a mental health Professional in 1993. He has a California State Teaching Credential in Theater arts. He brings all of this Knowledge and experience to the BDSM lifestyle for the purpose of augmenting, and creating safer BDSM play. They don’t call it “the English vice” for nothing. Whether you celebrate Winter Solstice, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or simply the snow season, come enjoy decking the tree with colorful ornaments and other pretties. We'll whip that tree into shape, and Top it with a dominant symbol of the season.

In this workshop, students will learn to decorate the body with a variety of techniques and materials, while inducing the awesome endorphin rush that needle play brings.

Ever wondered how it would feel to have a needle corset, or perhaps a beautiful spray of roses, pinned in your skin in a way you could wear all day? Ever considered a unique costume for Folsom Street Fair or other kinky events? This is your chance to learn something deliciously fun and exciting!

Students wanting to attend this class are encouraged to attend the basic needle play class first. They will see two different designs demonstrated on volunteers during the workshop, and we will discuss a lot of potential fun things that can be done.

This is advanced play, and not for the squeamish, larger gage needles are used and in larger quantities. It is a workshop environment, so students will be given their own starter kits for the class.

This workshop is always a hit with those who attend, and the instructor has a wealth of experience and knowledge in doing it. She has pioneered many of the techniques being taught, and enjoys sharing them with the community.

Come join us and learn to do something beautiful, creative and fun, and give your partner a gift they will remember for some time to come.
